A*STAR Partners’ Centre formally comes into operation
A*STAR Partners' Centre (A*PC), the first overseas branch of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore's lead public sector agency that spearheads economic oriented research to advance scientific discovery and develop innovative technology, formally came into operation in SIP on Nov 18. It provides a series of services to help introduce a number of Singaporean projects to SIP each year.
It is learnt that SIP authorities and A*STAR launched cooperation in science and technology innovation and industrialization in 2018, and the A*PC was set up this June. As a lead-up to the formal opening, A*PC has managed to help 13 Singaporean firms land their projects in SIP since last October, including six that have finished registration in Suzhou with financial support. These projects are expected to greatly promote innovation and development of biomedicine, life science, AI, nanotech and other emerging industries.
In the next step, A*PC will do its bit in supporting the biomedicine industry in SIP by partaking in discussions on related policy innovation as well as organizing roadshows and other partnering events to facilitate collaboration between Singaporean companies and research institutes and hospitals in SIP and the neighboring areas. It will also strive to contribute more to China-Singapore exchanges and cooperation in globalization and science and technology innovation.
