China’s first wearable defibrillator enters green-channel review
The Center for Medical Device Evaluation at National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China recently approved the accelerated review of the country’s first wearable defibrillator which, developed by SIP-based medical device company VIVEST Medical, is expected to break the monopoly of overseas companies in the field and benefit numerous patients at high risk for sudden cardiac arrest.
Founded in SIP’s BioBAY in 2019, VIVEST Medical focuses on developing medical devices for heart rhythm management and providing related data services. It is also working on a clinical electrocardiograph data service platform and is expected to bring about the world’s first risk evaluation system for more effective prevention of sudden cardiac death.
The wearable defibrillator that incorporates advanced algorithms and other best-in-class technologies can detect a life-threatening arrhythmia and automatically deliver a treatment shock to save a patient’s life.
