Yangtze River Delta to brace for holiday travel upsurge
The Yangtze River Delta will see more than 22 million railway trips from April 29 to May 6, with an average of 2.75 million trips per day, China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group Co., Ltd. said on Monday.
145 temporary train sets will be added to cope with the rising demand during the 5-day Labor Day holiday when an increasingly large number of tourists are expected to make railway trips, according to the railway authority. The China Railway Shanghai Bureau will make every possible effort to ensure that the upsurge in the passenger flow will be dealt with properly. Contingency plans will be drafted while big data monitoring will keep track of the train ticket sales during the holiday. Insiders say the number of domestic tourist trips during the upcoming 5-day Labor Day holiday will reach or even surpass figures before the COVID-19 pandemic.
