Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra begin to recruit players
Suzhou Youth Symphony Orchestra began to recruit players on September 18 with a plan to build a 100-strong ensemble.
The orchestra is jointly managed by Suzhou Education Bureau and Suzhou New Era Group, and is the first its kind in the city. It aims to inspire young musicians and also enhance the community through classical music.
Nearly 1,000 players have submitted application for joining the orchestra’s five families for string, woodwind, brass, percussion and harp instruments. After the first round of selection, 597 applicants were selected for the audition with about 100 players to be recruited.
The new orchestra is expected to have its first show at the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra New Year Concert to be held on December 31.
