A documentary exhibition opened yesterday at Suzhou Art Museum to showcase outstanding achievements of renowned Chinese painter and art educator Yan Wenliang.

The exhibition is a part of the celebration events of the 90th anniversary of Suzhou Art Museum. Yan, together with his friends Hu Cuizhong and Zhu Shijie, founded Suzhou Fine Arts School in 1922. In 1927, Yan established a museum in the school, which was the predecessor of Suzhou Art Museum.

About 30 painting works covering all stages of Yan’s art creation are exhibited. Over 200 documents including magazines, photos and files are displayed to give a comprehensive introduction to the life of Yan and the development history Suzhou Fine Arts School.

The exhibition will run through January 1 in 2018.
